Creating a new project from a file

If you have previously created your project plan using Microsoft Project, this can be imported into your Project > List View and Project > Gantt View.

The following data will be imported from Microsoft Project:

1. • Task names

   • Task dates

   • Predecessors

1. Browse to the Microsoft Project© file you wish to import.

   Please be aware:

   • The import feature only supports .mpp files for versions of Microsoft Project up to 2003.

   • For Microsoft Project© files created beyond, such as Project 2007 or 2010, you must choose the 'Save As' option and select the .XML format.

   • Resource information will not be imported.

   • The import process may affect a task's duration if any resources are assigned.

     • If using the .XML format, the length of a standard working day in Microsoft Project© should match the value entered in the Admin > Company Settings > Working Time section.

     • • Failure to do so can result in a difference of task start and end dates.

       • For ProjectMinder users:

1. Click Next.

2. The project is created.

Note: Projects can also be imported via Admin > Data > Import Data.
