All open projects, whether historic, current or bid projects are accessible via the Project > Gantt View menu.
This shows a graphical representation of project time lines, based on the start and end dates set for each project.
To open a project, click on the project name. This will open the Project > Gantt screen.
To create a new project:
Click the New Project button.
Select how you want to create the new project:
From scratch – All fields in the new project will be blank and will need to set manually
From a template – Properties will be copied either from a template project or an existing project
From a file – Properties will be imported from a Microsoft Project file
Click Next.
Ensure each field marked with an asterisk is completed as a minimum (See Adding summary details for help on these fields).
Click Save.
When a project is created from a template, the properties can be imported from a project template or for some items use default settings.
Make the required selections for each project area:

Project Team
Project Contacts
Project Custom Fields
Tasks
Task Custom Fields
Task Details - Copies all task details except resource assignments
Budgeting - Copies project budgeting (Fee Allocation - Architects, Engineers and Quantity Surveyors or Estimates - Management, Marketing and IT Consultants)
Invoice Rules - Copies all time, expense and fixed fee invoice rules
Time Rates
Expense Rates
Note: If Tasks are not copied and an invoice rule contains task filters the rule will not be copied.
Select the project to use as the template.
The project is created.
If you have previously created your project plan using Microsoft Project, this can be imported into your Project > List View and Project > Gantt View.
The following data will be imported from Microsoft Project:
Task names
Task dates
Predecessors
Browse to the Microsoft Project© file you wish to import.
Please be aware:
The import feature only supports .mpp files for versions of Microsoft Project up to 2003.
For Microsoft Project© files created beyond, such as Project 2007 or 2010, you must choose the 'Save As' option and select the .XML format.
Resource information will not be imported.
The import process may affect a task's duration if any resources are assigned.
For ProjectMinder users:
If using the .XML format, the length of a standard working day in Microsoft Project© should match the value entered in the Admin > Company Settings > Working Time section.
Failure to do so can result in a difference of task start and end dates.
For ProjectMinder users:
For Time and Budgets users:
The length of a standard working day in Microsoft Project© should be set to 8 hours (the default setting).
Failure to do so can result in a difference of task start and end dates.
Click Next.
The project is created.
Note: Projects can also be imported via Admin > Data > Import Data.
